Public History and Public Policy

On March 4, Jean Pierre Morin, the Public Servant in Residence in the History Department, discussed his research into the place of historical research in the federal public policy process before an engaged audience of faculty and students associated with History, NPSIA and other academic departments as well as a number of public servants. In a rigorous and passionate critique of the failure of public policy makers to think historically and the reluctance of historians to shape their work in ways that would reach decision makers, he proposed that CCPH would be a perfect venue to begin such a conversation. If you missed his wonderful talk, you have the chance to catch him at the Underhill Graduate Student Colloquium on Thursday March 10th at 1pm in 433 Paterson Hall, Carleton University: http://carleton.ca/underhill/2016/2016-underhill-program/
